International Certificate of Competence

Vessels up to 10 metres

European countries are increasingly expecting visiting vessels to hold a certificate of competence.  If you are planning to cruise within Europe and the Mediterranean the RYA and MCA recommends Skippers to hold the International Certificate of Competence (ICC). Any candidate who wishes to be endorsed for operation on inland waterways requires the CEVNI test. This is a multiple choice paper that can be taken at the same time as the ICC exam.

There are 3 ways to obtain an ICC valid for power vessels up to 10 metres:

  • By completing the ICC application form and attaching a photocopy of your Powerboat Certificate Level 2 up to Advanced. (Further details on back of application form)

  • By taking a direct assessment if have previous experience but no certificate to support it.

  • By taking a two day training course.

This qualification is only available to BRITISH CITIZENS or bona fide BRITISH RESIDENTS.
